Steady Fishing, Crazy Weather!

The fishing still remains steady with the quality of fish increasing a touch in comparison to last week.

The weather has been pretty crazy in terms of wind, rain, and thunderstorms. Not much of an impact on fishing, but our water clarity is significantly less. The water clarity is around 2-3 feet which is abnormally low. Normally it’s about 6-8 feet depending on conditions. Lures need to be natural colors. Natural colored patterns are definitely out-fishing your more exotic color choices.

We are still finding some smaller fish up shallow in 5-8 feet of water. The larger fish have since moved out to their deep isolated boulders in about 10-15 feet of water. The best baits have been the ned rig and drop shot when you’re targeting those deeper fish. When you’re up shallow our best baits have been paddle tail swim baits, and smaller 3″ 3-5′ diving husky jerk-baits.

We are seeing a few muskie when up shallow on the rock reefs. If you are looking to target them, we suggest throwing large baits in 4-10′ on main lake rock reefs. Though the water temps are pretty warm, the guys who are out after them are moving some fish around.
