August 9, 2016 Fishing Report and Mille Lacs Upcoming Events
Fishing on Lake Mille Lacs has remained good late into the season. Our launches and guides are still finding Walleye in almost every depth across the lake. You can find fish as shallow as 6 feet in the mornings and evenings and anywhere from 12-30 feet during mid day. Shallow fish are still hitting leeches under bobbers with deeper fish hitting crank baits most consistently. Live bait rigging has being spotty with the hour before dark having the most active bite. The Smallmouth Bass bite is slowly starting to pick up again with bigger fish being found deeper. Smaller plastics and craw baits have been working well. Natural colors being the best choice. Deep running crank baits, as well as clacking and rattling baits have also been picking up a big bass or two.
The ATV trails are in great shape. The local snowmobile and ATV club, The Driftskippers did a great job cleaning up after a few storms and strong winds that came through the area.
