Bassmaster’s Elites AOY Mille Lacs

Mille Lacs has had a spectacular turn out for the Bassmaster’s Angler of the Year Event! So far both weigh-ins have had crowds of over four hundred. You can catch tomorrow’s final at Grand Casino Mille Lacs parking lot B at 3:45pm. Day one saw 23 bags over 20lbs with anglers raving Mille Lacs being the top spot for Smallmouth in the world! Lyback’s Marine also sponsored a BassCat and Yar-Craft Ride and Drive event today here at McQuoid’s, still going until 5:00pm if you’d like to swing in!

Bass fishing continues to be good with most anglers finding fish deep, and with increasing winds using heavier jigs and weights in the 3/4oz to 1oz range to get deep fast. Jigs and plastics in dark and natural colors have been top producers. We are also slowly starting to find a few nice perch coming in on our launch and boat trips, the big fall bite hasn’t started into full swing yet. A few anglers targeting Musky have had luck on the mud and sand on the north end, many getting into some large pike too. The Musky and perch bites should both get better as the fall progresses.

The ATV trails are in great shape. Intermittent rains have kept the dust down and the cool evening temps have trees just beginning to change. We’ll keep trail conditions and fall color updates posted on the blog and Facebook. Temps are forecast in the comfortable 65-70’s the next week making for some great days to get out on the trails.

Be sure to stop in next weekend for the Lake Country Cruisers Car Show. 8am-2pm Saturday, if you have a car, truck or vintage snowmobile you can register to enter in classes for the day. The afternoon will end with an optional cruise around the lake for fall colors. Sunday morning the Isle Airport will host a pancake breakfast.
